March Favorites

I'm sad to say goodbye to March.
It's been a lovely month with its mild weather, visit of old friends from far places, Easter eggs, field trips, a slow growing business and inspiring friends, early morning coffee and sleepovers with my sister. Then there was cuddles with cats, curry with friends, lots of creating and re-decorating.
Oh March, I will miss you!

5 on a Friday: Breakfast foods

It's been a while since I've done a "5 on a Friday" post. But then again, its been a while since I blogged properly. My bad!

Today is holiday here in South Africa which only means one thing - sleeping in, having leisurely breakfasts and wearing pj's way past a decent hour. I wont lie, I'm not a morning person so not having to wake up at 6am to catch the school bus is a real treat. Ironically, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day...and herewith my 5 favorite breakfast treats:

This is a relatively new thing for me, and it started off as a pre-dinner appetiser but lately I love starting my days with a nice big glass of chilled tomato juice. Add a splash of Jalapeno Tabasco to spice up the day!

I very rarely have this, as my hips don't need no buttery hollandaise sauce to help their cause. But whenever I go out for breakfast I will almost definitely have me some Eggs Benedict thank you very much!

Then there is delicious warm french toast with crispy bacon and maple syrup...who can resist? I find it pretty hard, I must admit...

...but then I wake up and realise that there is no way in hell that I will have time to make any of above mentioned breakfast foods and be on time for work so I stay loyal to my old faithful - Kellogg's All Bran with some extra bran, a handful of raisins or sliced banana and warm milk. For some reason I never seem to tire of it.

But there are those mornings when I have an extra few minutes and the option of not eating my breakfast out of a box. It's on those mornings that I make myself a bowl of steaming hot oats and as if that is not enough, I add a dollop of peanut butter. Sounds weird? It really is quite wonderful. A better comfort food (which is also healthy and not fattening) is yet to be invented. Go on, try it. You will love me forever, I promise!

To say that I like the look of  Colenimo is a bit of an understatement...

...completely enamoured might be a better discription.

I've been planning...  Photoblox. Have you heard? It's this awesome new concept where you print your Instagram pictures on wooden blocks. I collaborated with the founder, Roche and ever since then Ive been a busy busy bee
I've been eating....too many macaroons. And ever since I busted my stove, I've been living on salads and cereal.
I've been dreaming about.... going to Japan. This blog doesn't exactly help to ease my Japanese obsession.
I've been splurging on.... veterinary expenses. Again. Little mister had to go for his snip. You know, the one that ensure no future kittens. Poor thing. Poor me - who had to pay for such a horrid expense.
I've been reading...the Frankie magazine. Man, I am obsessed by this piece of photographic/literary/fashion/DIY art. Such a pity that this beautiful magazine is impossible to find in South Africa. Luckily a friend of mine has a whole stash of them so now I am indulging in Frankie goodness. I might just fork out those dollars and get me a subscription. I might = I most-definitely-cannot-live-without-Frankie-so-I-will. A need people. It's a need! And I wont be told otherwise.
I've been wearing....whatever clothing I have that is clean. It's time to go visit mommy again because the washing pile is growing bigger and my choices of what to wear, smaller.
I've discovered.... this pretty shop that makes the most amazing notebooks and this talented, lovely photographer
I've been struggling with.... getting enough time to teach, Photoblox, drink enough water and baby a fragile kitten.
I've been happy about...some amazing opportunities, some inspirational friends and the fact that Friday is close by.
I've been inspired by... these wise words.
I've been creative... on Photoshop. Gosh, am I thankful for the Internet or what? What a blessing to be able to google if I need to know something. I feel like kissing each and every one who actually took the time to write tutorials for people like me.

Red velvet mistakes!

Scenes from the Indaba

The past few days have been marked by hard work, little sleep, countless cups of coffee and lots of fun. It's wonderful to see how an idea is put into action and to be part of the process where hours of hard work and planning becomes a reality.

...and holding that business card in your hand for the first time, man, nothing beats that.
