Botany

One of my favorite things to do, is lounging around in bookstores. I'm not to picky when it comes to bookshops. Dusty secondhand stores hold a special place in my heart but I especially love those with a coffee shop and leather sofas in which you can sit for hours just browsing through books.

Recently, on one such excursion I discovered this lovely little book by Mandy Kirby. Just then and there I decided it time for me to learn more about flowers, their names and meaning.

And then, like an omen that I am on the right track, I discovered this beautiful print on flickr.

Blooming beautiful, I tell you!

Marching bands

My sister lives right in the middle of the city. Its lovely. From her window you can watch the hustle and bustle and if you open it, hear all the city noise.
A few weeks ago it was the "opening of parliament" and for a few days before, marching bands could be heard practising in the streets.
I love marching bands, so on the day of the actual opening, we decided to take to the streets and together we felt proud to be South African and patriotically danced to the music.

Whenever I think about this day, I smile.
 I feel so blessed.
Amazing family and friends, a wonderful city and beautiful country. What more can one possibly want?

A permanent marching band would be a welcome addition though!
