Please help......

I'm currently on a quest to read the literature of classic female writers such as Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Plath and Jane Austen. I just finished "Mrs Dalloway" as well as "A Room of One's Own" by the amazing Virginia Woolf and really enjoyed it. Now I  have set my sights on reading Jane Austen's novels next. I have done my homework - I currently have "The Jane Austin Book Club" on my bedside table and just watched the pretty, pretty movie, "Becoming Jane". But I'm really ashamed to admit that in my 25 years on this beautiful earth, I haven't read any of Austen's work (aside from "Northanger Abbey" which was a prescribe at University). Oh, and then of course "The Jane Austen Book Club" but I'm not entirely sure if that one counts?!

So I'm off to the library on Friday but choosing one of Jane Austen's novels seems like a daunting task. Even after doing my "homework", I'm still a bit unsure which novel to read first. I'm thinking Emma or Persuasions, maybe Pride and Prejudice!?
Have any of you, my lovely fellow bloggers, read Jane Austen's work? And do you have some advice on which book to start with? I would love to know what your thought are on the lovely Miss Austen and your advice will be much appreciated!

I found these adorable mugs on Flicr but have no idea where to purchase them.  Perhaps that is a good thing though, because I'd probably blow my budget and buy the whole set :-)
