30 Things before Thirty # 4 (Learning the art of taking good pictures)

I am starting with a course in photography today and I couldn't be more thrilled. (Groupon, I love you!!!!!).....

No more blurry photos (like this one, which I kind of like), over-exposure and bad composition!

Oh, how very excited I am!!!

the last of summer fruits ♥ dusting off the dancing shoes ♥ smelling the roses ♥ eating way to many pastries ♥ the best gifts, if you ask me,  are  books (and double points if it's poetry books) - Thank you Trev.

BOOKED!!!

My plane ticket to France is booked ...and I've been doing happy dances all day long.

Oh, and OF COURSE I had to celebrate my upcoming date with pretty Paris with a cup of coffee and a  croissant!

When my mom was 13 .....

.....she made this adorable little tapestry.

It seems like my mother has always loved beautiful things. I am hardly surprised because her whole garage is filled to the brim with old furniture, boxes of vintage fabric, dress patterns, porcelain and tons of other hidden treasures. She is a terrible hoarder but I love it because now that my sister and I have our own apartments, we get to decorate it with pretty things from my mommy's "collection". It is also where I found this little guy, packed away with other old photographs.

It now has a special place in my apartment amongst all the other print I love. A little reminder of the beauty of girlhood and how it's never really lost.

Sew in Love

I love the smell of cloth and how beautiful fabric can become beautiful things.

I love the singing sound of a sewing machine as it creates prettiness under your fingers....

 

I love how an old piece of material that I found in a box can become a scatter.

I loved it all so much that I made two pillows....

.....one for Viv Cat's chair....

...and one for mine.

Cat naps and bad ideas

I recently bought a new chair. I loved this chair and had this dream of sitting by the window, reading while the sunlight and cool autumn breeze streams in.

It was a bad idea ......

...because as soon as the chair found its new home in by bedroom, Vivienne claimed it as her own. Now I never get a chance to use my chair. You can't reason with a cat nor convince it to give up her new favorite cap nap spot!
