One of my favorite weekend activities is attending weddings. So when one of my friends, Stefan, asked me to be his date to a Karoo wedding, I jumped at the opportunity. Even if it meant a 1851 km drive and staying in a dodgy hotel?!? Absolutely. I love road trips, retro-chic and visiting a world heritage site was just an added bonus to a weekend filled with long discussions, dancing, take-away coffee and belly-aches caused by to much laughing.

My best friend's wedding..
Two weekends ago my best friend got married...and I got to be a bridesmaid for the very first time. It was the most wonderful experience to share this joyous day with a girl I've known since the age of twelve. She was the most beautiful bride and I, well, I was such a cry baby. You know those bridesmaids that bawl their eyes out, well that was me!

It's been a while...
...since my last post and for that I do apologize. A couple of weeks ago some dude stole my bag and although nothing of real value was taken, tons of personal stuff like my wallet, cards and also my laptop cable became the property of someone else. Because I bought my laptop in Korea, replacing the cable became a real (expensive) affair. Anyhow, I am back...with tons to share. The past couple of weeks have been busy busy with two weddings, a 1851km road trip, a new found love affair with Chuck Taylors' and a stay-cation with my sister. So do pop in, plenty of post to follow soon.

A Weekend in Pictures # 22
With spring just around the corner, new life is visible everywhere. Not only are the blooms starting to show their pretty faces but the ducks in the park have expanded their family. The most exciting news, however, is that our family is expanding too. My cousin announced that they are expecting a little baby and on Saturday we went to celebrate with a gender-revealing cake. It was the sweetest idea - they asked the doctor to put the gender of the baby in a sealed envelope which they dropped of at the baker with strict instructions to bake a cake and then completely cover it with frosting. They asked the baker to colour the inside of the cake according to the baby's gender so that if the cake was pink on the inside, we would know its a girl or blue for a boy.
I cant remember when last I was so excited to cut a cake!
The remainder of the weekend was spend...
going for walks in the city * cooing a pretty baby * trying on cool glasses * celebrating a pink cake * going on park adventures * drinking tea at pretty tea shops * loving the little ducklings* feeling intensely happy that spring is on her way!
Footwork
Sometimes last week, while sorting through the photographs on my computer, I noticed a peculiar thing - my penchant for taking photographs of my feet. Subconsciously I must've felt the desire to document my travels with a "these feet were here" photograph of all the wonderful places I've been blessed to see...
The Great Wall of China, Beijjing, China.
Airport, Hong Kong.
The Purple City, Hue, Vietnam.
Nice, France.
Oh, how I've lost my heart in these places.

Lately,
I've been planning... a bridal shower for my best friend and lessons for my kiddos at school.
I've been eating... oranges every day!
I've been dreaming about..... writing a cookbook and owning one of these babies.
I've been splurging on.... novels. The local bookstore had a sale and I went bananas buying ten books which I never heard of before.
I've been reading... "The English Patient" by Michael Ondaantje. I've seen the movie ages ago. The book was on a friend's shelf and I decided to give it a try. Love it so far.
I've been wearing.... cardigans and flenny dresses. They are lovely and warm.
I've been praying for.... Oliver to come back.
I've discovered.... that spinach makes a nice (warm) substitute for lettuce and the joys of cake pops
I've been struggling with.... getting my ass to the gym.
I've been happy about... the first signs of spring and an upcoming wedding.
I've been inspired by.... .a new cookbook, my neighbours garden with it's pretty Camellia's and this amazing project. Check out their Facebook page. You won't be sorry!
I've been indulging in ..... oatmeal with peanut butter and fried banana. I got the delicious idea from here and it might just be my favorite breakfast food ever.
I've been creating... worksheets and 3rd term files. It's back to school...and back to reality.
